SAVING THE PLANET IN STYLE @ ENVIROFIESTA

The Recycled Fashion Parade at this years’ Envirofiesta is shaping into another blockbuster with local designers showing that conservation and flair – and a touch of the eccentric – can go hand in hand.

It’s promising to be bigger, better and more innovative with 10 designers - from the established to the aspiring -showing that old is new and style is limited only by your imagination, according to fashion coordinator, Bobin Joy.

“Sweatshops and waste are not a problem for our designers, who use their own sweat and other peoples waste to make their own way in the world of fashion.”

“Creating new designs from recycled materials has resulted in some spectacular creations over the years and this year is no exception,” says Bobin.

Local fashion designer Jill Zamora is once again a highlight and shares the catwalk with daughter Marnie, herself a veteran of three Envirofiesta parades. Other designers include Bobin Joy, herself, Susan Breeze.

The Fashion Parade is part of a packed program live music, performances, activities and special events, which include a Monster Garage Sale, and workshops for aspiring musicians - and a few surprises.

“Someone with close connections to the far north, one of Australia’s best-known songwriters, will make a special appearance, but more of that later,” says Bobin.
