ASKED TO ENGAGE IN VISIONING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
The
sustainability of the Cairns region is the special topic for an
interactive Future
Forum to be held at Envirofiesta on August 2. The
Cairns and Far North Environment Centre, with support from the Cairns
Regional Council, is asking all residents to provide their ideas on designing a sustainable
future
for their neighborhood.
This
Forum will be a multi-media space depicting our regional lifestyles
through a display of historical and recent photos of the region, and
information and art relating to our past and present. There will
also be short talks and performances throughout the day in the forum.
All
ages
are invited to come to Envirofiesta and post their ideas at the forum
or to send in a submission before Aug. 2. Individuals will be asked
to contribute their vision by adding it to their neighborhood on a
large map of the region. Thus, everyone will be able to see what
others are saying about their neighborhood and area.
The
submission can be in any medium - writing, drawing, painting, or
collage – and should address the question: How would you make your
‘neighborhood’ more sustainable?
Submissions can be posted to: envirofiesta.forum@cafnec.org.au.
All contributions will be presented to the appropriate regional council
and also be used to inform CAFNEC’s Regional Sustainability
campaign.
Please contact Elaine Harding 0427 799 523
or Gabi Bohnet at CAFNEC at 40321746 for further information.
Our region is home to both outstanding natural values as well
as a
dynamic, diverse and highly creative community, Envirofiesta is
where all these elements meet.
