BeatRoots
is
an African Percussion unit who plays a range of pieces from traditional
African rhythms to its own original upbeat and easy to dance to
beats. Members of the group consist of Kenji and Fera on Djembes
playing groovy rhythms that accentuate the base rhythms and bring high
energy solos to the group. Leo on boogooraboo, a drum with cow
skin that produces soft melodic tones simular to a conga. The
rythyms played on the boogooraboo compliment the driving base rhythms
of the dun-duns played by Maiko. Played together we produce a
tradition yet new and unique sound of tribal and ‘dancy’ beats.
The Job Stoppers
Jobstopper has existed in Cairns since the start of February 2010. With influences
such as Reel Big Fish and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Jobstopper mixes
a combination of punk, reggae, rock and ska to create a unique

controversial
nature, referencing marijuana laws, broken down social scenes and
racism. Since the beginning the boys have traveled from Cairns to the
likes of Atherton, Townsville and even Sydney, playing to a mind
blowing crowd at the Lewisham Live House. Currently planning
their debut E.P, and a split with Townsville band 20 Ounces From
